DEMU yacht design is a new studio backed by 30 years of experience in sailing and motor yacht design.
Founded by two designers who have worked on some of the industry’s most renowned projects, they have collaborated with leading shipyards and design firms.
Tommaso
DE LUCA
With nearly twenty-five years of experience, he began his career in the technical office at Wally Yachts, where he contributed to the engineering of several iconic Wally sailing vessels of that period (Indio, Y3K, among others). A pivotal year followed at Wally Yachts’ Tunisian shipyard, where he focused on engineering and reimagining the iconic Wallytender 43 for series production.
These formative years in engineering and shipyard operations established the robust technical and construction expertise that would become the cornerstone of his design philosophy and methodology.

In 2004, he established his own studio in Rome, where alongside providing technical consultation to the Wally shipyard in Fano and CNM shipyard in Rome, he began working as a freelance designer. He designed several motor yachts that were awarded “Boat of the Year” in their respective categories at the Cannes Yacht Show (CNM 50, CNM 50 Tender, the interiors of CNM 80, the ZEN 70, along with other work as a ghost designer for projects over 50 meters).
In 2009, Luca Bassani appointed him as Design Director at Wally Yachts, where he served as Chief Designer, a consultancy role he continues to provide to the Ferretti Group. Working alongside the dynamic Bassani, he shaped his brilliant intuitions into some of the most iconic projects of the last decade. In sailing yachts, he designed both exterior and interior of: Wallycento Magic Carpet III, WallyCento Galatea, the 110 ft BARONG 3, and the 93 ft Nahita. In motor yachts, notable designs include: Wallyone, Wallypower 52, and various versions of the Wallyace 27m. During these years, he also served as technical coordination consultant for all motor yacht projects.
In 2019, Wally Yachts joined the Ferretti Group family. With the primary focus on creating a new motor yacht range, Tommaso was directed exclusively to motor yacht projects, where the Ferretti Group initially concentrated its efforts. The entire current range of Wally motor yachts bears the mark of his design and Luca Bassani’s brilliant ideas: WHY 200, 150 and 100, Wallypower 58, Wallypower 50, and Wallytender 43. In just over 5 years, a new range of motor yachts was born.
His 25-year journey represents a singular trajectory in the maritime industry: from engineering cutting-edge sailing and motor yachts to developing custom vessels and series production motor yachts. This comprehensive experience positions Tommaso as a designer with an unprecedented background in today’s nautical landscape. Combining his passion for the sea (cultivated through over 40 years of sailing experience) with his extensive and multifaceted expertise, he achieves a rare synthesis of form, function, technology, and client aspirations in their truest and most meaningful expression.
Antonino
MUTO
With a solid background in industrial and transportation design, Antonino has developed deep expertise in designing innovative and functional products, specializing in the nautical sector due to his passion for the sea.
After earning a master’s degree in nautical design, he accumulated eight years of experience at Wally studio and recently at Cantieri di Pisa.
Despite using cutting-edge design software, Antonino maintains a deep connection with hand drawing, which he considers a fundame ntal expressive tool to bring unique and personalized ideas to life.

His career began as an onboard technician, where he spent a year installing electrical and home automation systems on various types of vessels. This hands-on experience provided him with a thorough understanding of the operational dynamics and specific needs of the nautical sector, positively influencing his design approach.
Subsequently at Wally, Antonino had the opportunity to work on projects from the concept phase to final realization, developing specific skills in the design of assemblies and detailed components such as control panels, transformable systems, and multifunctional external elements.
His design approach is characterized by functional rigor, where aesthetics emerge from a careful and rational design process. Each element is studied to optimize performance and the onboard experience, creating a coherent and distinctive formal language.
He has worked on both custom and series projects, experimenting with innovative materials, also coming from sectors outside the nautical field.
This combination of skills allows him to offer a complete service to his clients, from concept design to final realization.
Mastering the Art of Yacht Design
At DEMU yacht design, we master the art of both sailing and motor yacht design.
Our experience allows us to navigate seamlessly between these two worlds, ensuring each vessel retains its unique identity while maintaining the highest standards of performance, elegance, and functionality.
our comprehensive services include :

Technical engineering and support
What sets us apart is our ability to seamlessly integrate form and function. Every project begins with a deep understanding of the marine environment, evolves through meticulous technical development, and culminates in designs that marry innovation with practicality. Whether we’re crafting the interior of a luxury sailing yacht or engineering the next generation of production vessels, our approach remains grounded in technical excellence while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design.
Our latest work:
Comprehensive Design Process
Crafting Yachts with intent and vision
We oversee every stage of yacht design, from the initial hand-drawn sketches to the final construction phase.
Our expertise ensures that each project evolves seamlessly, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and cutting-edge engineering
Our deep connection to the marine world fundamentally shapes how we approach each project. We understand that exceptional yacht design emerges from the perfect balance of form and function, where every line serves a purpose and every space enhances the seafaring experience.
The journey from concept to creation follows our refined methodology:
We begin with hand sketches, allowing creativity to flow freely while addressing technical constraints. This traditional approach enables us to quickly explore multiple solutions and capture the essence of each design concept.
Using advanced 3D modeling, we bring the design to life. This stage allows us to meticulously verify spatial relationships, optimize every detail, and ensure that the final design achieves the perfect balance between aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.
Initial Exploration
Technical Development
The selected concept evolves through detailed technical development. We refine the platform architecture, carefully considering the project’s objectives, desired proportions, and unique design language. This phase ensures that beauty and functionality advance in perfect harmony.
Digital Realization
Using advanced 3D modeling, we bring the design to life. This stage allows us to meticulously verify spatial relationships, optimize every detail, and ensure that the final design achieves the perfect balance between aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.
Visualization and Validation
We leverage cutting-edge visualization technology to create photorealistic renders and immersive animations. This crucial step allows clients to fully understand and experience their future vessel before construction begins.
Engineering Integration
Our extensive technical expertise ensures that every design decision aligns with construction requirements and budget parameters, resulting in solutions that are both innovative and buildable.
